A few autumn destinations in Romania

A few autumn destinations in Romania will serve as inspiration for the next weeks, even if October has been with us for quite a while already and sunny days are getting rarer and rarer.

Just an hour’s drive from Bucharest, we find a town that used to be home to many personalities and artists. The town of Caragiale and Nichita Stanescu is tidy and boasts with a center that shines in an almost occidental light by night, not to mention its impressive historical buildings. Ploiesti is more than in industrial city. After a walk down the Chestnuts Boulevard, at the end of it, you reach the center of town, where, alongside the famous Fountains – the predilect rendezvous place for the locals – malls and shops galore, you will also find important sites to visit, such as the House of Culture, the “Toma Caragiu” Theatre, the Cathedral and the History Museum.

Apart from Sfatului Square and the Black Church, Brasov city boasts with a wonderful Synagogue. The Jewish community enjoys a wonderful location, one that shines bright in the morning light and offers a moment of respite and spirituality to every weary traveler.

If you get to Alba County this fall, we suggest you visit the beautiful Rimeta and Coltesti. An old medieval Szekely colony, Rimeta was built near the Turzii Gorges. It is the only town in Romania to have been awarded the “Europa Nostra” prize by the European Commission for preserving the cultural heritage. What is striking, however, is the dramatic setting, even more than the inter-cultural aspect.

The whitewashed houses are also displays of an interesting architecture. Nearby, in Coltesti, you will find the romantic ruins of the medieval citadel that used to dominate Trascau Valley.

The most important conclusion is: never stop traveling. And if you need a car, come to Auto Car Hire Romania!
