The Embassy of the United States of America in Bucharest celebrated the Independence Day in advance

This weekend, more precisely Saturday, 4th of July, Americans are putting on their best clothes for a traditional picnic meant to celebrate the 239th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The Embassy of the United States of America in Bucharest celebrated the Independence Day in advance along with important guests.

The guest of honor was our Head of State, President Klaus Iohannis. The president held a speech during the reception where he sent the warmest wishes to the American nation and underlined the importance of the partnership between Romania and the United States and the aspiration that the relations between the two states can diversify and extend to all domains.

The missions developed under the aegis of NATO reconfirm the strategic partnership with the USA, a fact confirmed by the foreign affairs commissioned, Dean Thompson, who sought to underline the importance of the Romanian army.

Among the other guests invited to attend the Embassy event, we mention Mihai Razvan Ungureanu (chief of SIE), interim vice president Gabriel Oprea, Defense Minister Mircea Dusa, Alina Gorghiu, Vasile Blaga, Rovana Plumb and SRI director Eduard Hellvig.

The Independence Day, the National Day of the United States of America, is celebrated annually on July 4th. On this date in 1776, the Declaration of Independence was adopted, which stated the separation of the United States from Great Britain.

Independence Day is the time to celebrate everything that is considered purely American through fireworks, barbecues, parades, fairs and carnivals, concerts and baseball games.

Aside from the separation from the Kingdom of Great Britain, the Declaration of Independence also postulates the principle of separation of powers and grants equal rights to all citizens. The phrase that has become famous is that people have the unalienable rights to “life, freedom and the pursuit of happiness”.

Let’s wish all the best to all Americans at home and from our country!
