Dear readers, we would like to thank you for your interest in following our blog and once again, have a happy spring and a pleasant Martisor!
Today, a friendly sun urges us to go outdoors, so we suggest discussing about 2 Spring holiday destinations in Romania. As always, we try to find new, interesting places to visit.
How about a trip in the countryside? The rural part of Romania preserves the charm beyond time that seduces foreigners. This is the case with the beautiful village Lapos in Prahova County. Lapos is an ancient town, first attested in a document dating back to the rule of Radu cel Frumos, on October 8th 1464. It was then that the ruler donated the villages to the Snagov Monastery.
Lapos preserves the configuration of the village established once upon a time by the mosneni people. This renders the place particularly important culturally. Here, you can visit the wooden church established by Gheorghe Desliu in 1823. The surrounding forests are beautiful and you can explore them if you want to admire the first flowers that barely dare to grow. To all those interested in a more… interesting local history, you can pass through the notorious village Glod, where the 2006 film, Borat, was shot. Glod has been inhabited by nomads for centuries, so we advise you “proceed with caution”.
If you find yourself in Dolj, we advise a visit to Sadova. Here is where the comedians from Vacanta Mare come from. But what is more relevant from the tourist perspective is Sadova Monastery, built by the ruler Matei Basarab in 1633, to celebrate the successful outcome in the battles with the Turks. The Monastery, built on the site of a small wooden church, was later consecrated in Greece, at Mount Athos. The painting is also remarkable!
These are just two of the dozens of Romanian destinations you can visit this spring. We invite you to travel across the country and share your discoveries with us! As always, we remind you to book a rental car Romania online.
