What it means to spend a wonderful day in a world full of mysterious and historical artifacts of a museum? Here it is:
Dinosaurs fossils, ancient and fascinating exhibits of the animal and vegetable world and a history of the world in images: you can enjoy all these spending one day to the Grigore Antipa Museum.
Having an interesting and rich history beginning from the nineteenth century, the “Grigore Antipa” National Museum of History is one of the preferred institutions of its kind from Bucharest and all Romania. Located on the famous Kiseleff Avenue, the museum hosts an impressive number of over 2 millions of exhibits which are classified in collections of zoology, mineralogy ethnography and paleontology.
For a short period of time the museum was closed for renovation, but, in 2011 on 17 of September, re-opened its gates with a new “look”, with redesigned exhibits showcases, the possibility of study and interactive exploration on computers and new, modern and interesting showrooms.
Our intention is not to ruin your surprise: the most interesting thing is for you to discover the mysteries of the museum by yourselves. But, to make you curious, we advance you that in “Antipa” you can admire a gigantic seashell, measuring about 1.20 meters in high and weighing 200 kg. Named Tridacna gigas, it can live for over 100 years. You can also admire our sea ecosystems in one of the most interesting exhibits, which is the Black Sea Diorama.
The “Grigore Antipa” Museum is opened during winter time from Tuesday until Sunday starting with 10.00 hours (until 18.00 hours during working days or 19.00 hours during weekend). For the summer time, the opening time extends until 20.00 hours. The prices are quite accessible, 20 lei (full ticket), 10 lei (retired), and 5 lei for students. Also, the museum offers a range of free services for the Biology, Medicine, Agronomy, Arts, Silviculture and Architecture students, for officials, disabled, etc.
