A trip to the Zoo provides ample entertainment for the entire family – especially if you want to make your kids dance with ecstatic joy! After four years of rehabilitation and investments, the Brasov Zoo has reopened its gates to visitors last week. So Let’s go to the Zoo in Brasov!
The Zoological Garden had been closed to the public for the past two years; its rehabilitation, however, had begun ever since 2010. As is often the case, the term for the finalization of rehabilitation was delayed on several occasions due to lack of funds. The project, which involved an investment of over 30 million lei, is not yet finalized. The restoration process will be undertaken courtesy of the Brasov City Hall, and will include constructions which had not been included in the initial plan, according to the Mayor of Brasov, Mr. George Scripcaru.
It was also the Local Council who has recently approved the new entry fares to the Brasov Zoo: 10 lei (adults), 5 lei (children and students), 8 and 4 lei respectively for organized groups. The Planetarium will also open to the public soon (just as its interior is finished) and the vet hospital that is included in the Zoo complex. Although there is still a long way to go, the Zoo’s Manager, Mr. Dumitru Danes, is confident that the slight issues will soon be settled, the 49 work positions in the Zoological Garden will be occupied and everybody will be ready to welcome new tenants of the most diverse species – to the utter delight of visitors.
The new Zoo is modern and aims at reconstructing the natural habitat of each of the 54 species as faithfully as possible. (There are cats, bears, reptiles, exotic birds and many other creatures here).
The first ones to set foot through the gates of the Brasov Zoo were the children from a local school. Their reactions and bright smiles made everybody realize that both the wait and the investment were well worth it.
If you are also curious, all we can say is: Let’s go to the Zoo in Brasov! If you are living outside Brasov, we suggest a reliable transfer.
