Who said dreams only come true in America? Despite the prejudices surrounding entrepreneuring, there are success stories in our very own Romania. SRL-Ds are not corporations with hundreds of employees, it is true, but this does not mean they do not rise above 1 million lei – because they do!
Substantial European funding is assigned to small businesses annually, so people who are thinking of opening their own firm can access these funds. This exercise is beginning to gain more and more popularity among those who realize that being your own boss does have its own charm, despite the inherent risks. According to Ziarul Financiar (the publication that made up the top small firms with great profits we will talk about in the following) states that over 16.000 Romanians have chosen to open their own business during the past 4 years. The governmental program SRL-D grants small businesses up to 10.000 EUR subsidy in order for them to open their first business.
The most successful SRL-D at present is run by a woman in Mures, Ramona Cimpianu, who has invested in en detail commerce with pharmaceuticals. With only 3 employees, SARAMIS, her company, has reached a turnover of 4 million RON. The second place is occupied by ARVORE FOREST SRL-D. Established in 2011, the same as the latter mentioned company, this firm in Valcea specializes in woodworking and has reached a turnover of 3.1 million RON.
