Who said Romania isn’t keeping up with the Joneses? Maybe just those who did not have the opportunity to participate this Sunday, January 18th, in the World Snow Day 2015 in Sinaia.
World Snow Day is organized each year by the International Skiing Federation. Nevertheless, this is the first year when the event was celebrated in our country. Sinaia, one of the best resorts on Prahova Valley, receives hundreds of visitors every day regardless of season.
World Snow Day 2015 was celebrate in over 600 resorts across 45 states around the world. In our case, the party was great, with free skiing lessons, contests with sweet prizes and educational activities about snow (and with snow fights, of course). The International Skiing Federation wishes to promote ski and other winter sports as healthy activities, particularly useful for the development of children and youths.
There was also animation in Busteni. The sledges carousel ensured transportation for tourists around the slope for beginners. At the end of the day, all participants were, surely, excited to have had the opportunity to enjoy such an outstanding event.
For Monday, January 19th, another event was organized in Azuga. The Snow Revolution on Sorica Slope, an event organized and intensely promoted on FB, offered (after negotiations with the administration) discounted prices for ski pass (80 RON, as opposed to the original whole price of 140 RON).
If you have missed this entertaining event, don’t panic: Sinaia, as well as the other resorts on Prahova Valley, are open all year round and access to the slopes is still possible. If you wish to organize a trip in the mountains and need an independent means of transportation, you can always rent a car at discounted prices and drive around the country!
