It’s worth visiting Resita!

Beyond the well-known vacation destinations in Romania, there are dozens of under-appreciated places in the country and they are in no way inferior to what we call mainstream tourism. It’s worth visiting Resita!

The most prominent city in Caras-Severin county, Resita is located at the crossroads of cultures and religions, a cosmopolitan universe where Romanians, Germans, Hungarians, Croatians and Serbians cohabitate harmoniously. Attested in a XVth century document for the first time, Resita has kept the quiet and liberal air of a settlement on the valley of the Barzava river.

Industry has played an important role in the history of Resita, especially when we consider the trains and engines production. The Factories Uzinele Domeniilor in Resita started building train engines in the 1920s, imposing Romania as a market leader. Resita is also renowned for its steel industry, as a car manufacturer and for chemistry.

Nevertheless, Resita is more than a mere industrial city. There are many tourist attractions in town and its surroundings that are worth all our attention.

Founded in 1959, The Banat History Museum thoroughly speaks of the local history. Casa de Cultura a Sindicatelor, Palatul Cultural and the G.A. Petculescu Theatre are the main venues for various events, while the bridge at customs will give you a glimpse of the first bridge which was welded in Romania.

The Steam engine Museum is another popular destination, sure. Here, you can admire models produced between 1872 and 1959.

If you need a day outdoors, you can visit the “Ion Crisan” Zoo in Resita. In the surrounding region, we recommend the skiing resort Semenic, Secu Lake or the Comarnic Cave (the longest in Banat). Also, if you are in for an anthropological study, you can walk around Lindenfeld, in idyllic deserted village.

If you also think it is worth visiting Resita, we invite you to rent a car in Resita to enjoy a perfect holiday here!
