Dear friends, as promised, we meet again with an article about the greatest Hollywood night of the year. The 2015 Oscar Winners are already here. The great event happened last night, February 22nd 2015.
No need to prolong the suspense. “Birdman Or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)” has been elected the best movie of the year. Alejandro G. Inarritu’s motion picture has won a toal of 3 Oscars: best director for Alejandro G. Inarritu, best screenplay and best Cinematography for Emmanuel Lubezki (who left home with his second statue for the second year consecutively, after having been rewarded for his “Gravity” last year).
“Boyhood”, winner of this year’s Golden Globes, has been among the losers of the race for best movie, but Patricia Arquette won the statue for best actress in a supporting role. The best actor in a supporting role was elected J.K. Simmons for his powerful role in “Whiplash”.
The Oscar was best leading actor has been awarded – probably not surprisingly – to Eddie Redmayne, who played scientist Stephen Hawking in the heartwarming drama “The Theory of Everything”. His stage colleague, Felicity Jones, was also nominated but didn’t get the award for best leading actress. She lost in favor of Julianne Moore, who played a brilliant part in “Still Alice”, the dramatic story of Alice Howland,a University teacher suffering from Alzheimer’s.
The 87th edition of the Academy Awards also rewarded the animation picture “Big Hero 6”, “CITIZENFOUR” for best documentary and the motion picture “Ida” for best foreign movie. In terms of music, Alexandre Desplat won the award for best original score for “The Grand Budapest Hotel”, while Common and John Legend’s “Glory” featured in the movie “Selma” was considered the most beautiful song.
