Online manual about the Danube Delta

Online manual about the Danube Delta

A unique place in the world, a fairytale land of waters filled with lilies and home to the pelicans, the Danube Delta is a place any Romanian should visit at least once in a lifetime. And yet, local tourism remains somewhat limited, maybe in part due to the insufficient development of the infrastructure and for lack of promotion, so the Danube Delta Reservation Administration have recently released an online manual about the Danube Delta.

The digital tourist’s manual to the Danube Delta includes the most important tourist attractions in the area, information regarding the places you can see and tips or advice useful during your voyage. The manual per se is in fact an application compatible with phones, tablets and other media devices and is available both in Romanian and in English. It can be downloaded for free and is called delta danube (on Google Play for Android).

The initiative for launching this application is part of the nearly 90.000 lei worth project DANUBEPARK STEP. Although the manual leaves way for improvement, it is a welcome idea.

Practically, by downloading the application, the tourist will find in the online manual both a map of the Delta and also naval and terrestrial tracks authorized by ARBDD, tourist attractions, visiting rules and strictly protected areas.

Part of the UNESCO World Heritage since 1991 and protected reservation of Romanian biosphere, the Danube Delta is the best conserved and most beautiful delta on the European continent. It measures 3446 km² and is located in Dobrogea, continuing to the Ukrainian border. Set on a sedimentary terrain, the vegetation of the Danube Delta presents mainly swamps with reed, but also parks and forests (willow, ash, poplar and alder).

The region is relatively easily accessible if you choose to travel by car. And if your personal automobile is not an option, you can easily rent a car.
