A party is in store for this end of the month, as between 23 and 26 October, Focsani hosts the International Wine Festival “Bachus” 2014.
Vrancea is the most important wine region in Romania. The wines produced here are legendary, reminding us of the famous pagan feasts of the ancient Dacians. “Join us as we open a barrel of wine on Thursday, October 23rd 2014” is the invitation extended on the official Facebook page of the event. The wine celebration will start at Piata Unirii in the city of Focsani and plans to honor the 100.000 vintners and their wines with intoxicating bouquet.
Bachus 2014 has come to its 22nd edition and organizers promise a traditional event of legendary proportions, with Bachus stories and the fire of Sumedru.
After the festivities are officially opened on October 23rd, there will be unique recitals of interprets such as Etno Stars, Provincialii and Elena Gheorghe. Friday, October 24th, the National Wine Contest Bachus 2014 will take place, followed by the release of the book “Vinul si viata” (“The wine and the life”) by Ionel Nistor. The evening will again be marked by the music of Akcent and Voltaj.
Saturday, October 25th, will be dedicated to a talent show followed by the humoristic moment of Romanian well-known artists Tociu and Palade, and on Sunday we say ‘goodbye’ to Bachus and… well, start preparing for a new week at work as sober as possible. (Before that, however, you are invited to attend the Prize Award and an exceptional recital by Italian artist Al Bano.
The party will take place a mere week before presidential elections, so there are those who suspect certain electoral intentions from the local administration. We, however, only invite you to visit a beautiful city and to enjoy an autumn fair – and a wine celebration.
