Bank holidays for 2015 and the mini vacations we can plan

The aroma of winter holidays seems to be drifting farther and farther away – it is amazing to see how fast holidays end and how fast we get back into the work rhythm! And yet, there is one thing that never changes, and we remain kids forever when it comes to this: ever since the first day of school (which becomes the first day of work), we start dreaming of free days (bank days, respectively).

So, let’s see what are the legal Bank holidays for 2015 and the mini vacations we can plan. For the new year, we have 13 legal days off (of course, apart from the 21 days of individual annual leave). In 2015, Romanians will enjoy another day off: January 24th, the day celebrating the Union in 1859.

Also in 2015, we will be granted a day off to tend to our child’s health and celebrate the Independence Day on May 10th. Unfortunately, only 8 days are weekdays this year. Here are the mini vacations of 2015:

  • New Year’s mini vacation (which is history already): January 1st and 2nd (Thursday and Friday)
  • The Union Day: January 24th (Saturday)
  • Easter: 12th and 13th April (Sunday and Monday)
  • The International Labor Day: 1st of May (Friday), offering us an extended weekend.
  • The Pentecost: 31st May and 1st of June (Sunday and Monday), a new occasion to welcome summer with a short vacation.
  • The Assumption: August 15th (Saturday)
  • The Winter Mini Holiday: St. Andrew: November 30th (Monday), the National Day: 1st of December (Tuesday). Three weeks later, we prepare to celebrate Christmas with a longer weekend. We have December 25th and 26th off (Friday and Saturday).

Even now, Romania is among the last in the list of European countries when it comes to bank holidays. Turkey and Russia offer 14 days off, being the most generous in the ranking.
