Places to spend New Year’s Eve (if still available)

It’s not even Christmas yet and here we are, already thinking of the night between the years, when families and groups of friends gather to celebrate a new year together. It seems that Romanians are great travelers (inside the country, at least) when it comes to the winter season. Places to spend New Year’s Eve (if still available) can prove to engender an interesting topic of discussion. Here are the most popular New Year destinations in the country.

Right now, it is practically almost impossible to find a free room to let for the first celebration of 2015. In the biggest cities in Romania, resturants are also fully booked for the magical night.

As for vacations in the mountains, the New Year’s Eve packages are almost fully booked. Such a package (five nights, dinner and four or five star conditions) can reach up to 4.400 lei per person. According to Ziarul Financiar, Azuga and Brasov are among the most expensive, but also popular winter resorts in the country.

No less than 23.000 lodgings places are available on Prahova Valley and in Brasov. Of course not all of them come at five-star standards, but beside luxury hotels, hostels and villas are also on great demand. Of all the lodgings unites in Romania, only little more than 3% are five-star accommodations.

Of all the luxury hotels in the Romanian Carpathians, we can count Aurelius Hotel (Poiana Brasov), Aro Hotel (Brasov), Lux Garden (Azuga) and Predeal Comfort Suites. Sinaia is a city that reminds one of the little mountain bourgs in Germany and Austria, so many choose to spend their holiday here. In Sinaia, the most popular hotels are Caraiman, Palace, Cristal and International (of which Palace and International are classified as four star hotels).

Whatever your plans for the holidays, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
