Vacation choices speak volumes about a certain peoples, although the main points to consider in deciding for a holiday destination are the geographical positioning and the travelers’ budget. Where do Romanians travel? Are you curious to know?
Well, it mostly depends on the travelers’ preferences and budget, again. Along with Romania’s integration in the European Union, the new open borders have enabled a significant increase in the number of Romanian tourists, all ready to “conquer” destinations about which they had only read or dreamt of before.
As was to be expected, this summer, Romanians again chose the Bulgarian and Greek seaside. According to Global Market Research, these are also the most popular offers made by the Romanian tour operators: Greece (49%), Bulgaria (36%), as well as Turkey (38%).
Romanian tourists choose destinations like Paralia-Katerini (Greece), the Golden Sands (Bulgaria) and Antalya (Turkey) for the promotional prices, the all inclusive programs and for the relative proximity (geographically speaking). Unlike a vacation in Spain or Italy, destinations that are far away, difficult to reach unless one takes a plane, Bulgaria or Greece suggest trips and excursions by bus, popular among those in search of a low cost solution.
Another popular vacation alternative is spending a weekend in a European capital city (the so-called “city breaks”). Thus, for an affordable fare (sometimes under 200 Euro), seeking the right offer, you can enjoy a trip to Budapest, Paris or Vienna.
Austria has also been, for many years, a top selling destination. Romanians are every year curious to see Vienna merrily decorated in light and color for the winter holidays. Tourists are also interested in visiting the mountain resorts, such as Linz, Innsbruck or Kitzbuhel, where they can practice inter sports or enjoy a few days of fresh air, in a landscape that is both traditional and occidental.
It goes without saying that many Romanians also choose local destinations, the most popular being the Black Sea litoral area and the mountain resorts among Prahova Valley. For this, they can easily travel by train, go by car or even hire an automobile from a reliable company.
