Over 1100 luxury class cars have been registered in the country since the beginning of the year until September 2014. Last year, the luxury car market was richer by 14%, but even so, Romanians have spent around 8 million Euro this year, with 20 of the chosen automobiles costing over 200.000 Euro.
Romanians love Audi, apparently, because almost 1000 units were registered, according to the DRPCIV. The brands that occupy the following positions are Lexus, Jaguar and Alfa Romeo.
The most expensive car that was registered in 2014 is a Lamborghini Aventador Roadster, which cost almost 410.000 Euro. It may be interesting to know that Romania hosts the only Lamborghini and Bentley showroom and service in Central and Eastern Europe. Apart from the Romanian center, the owners of these luxury autos have to travel as far as Prague or Vienna to fix their car issues.
Rich but… more thrifty Romanians, so to speak, have chosen to buy second hand luxury cars. This market has always been decreasing compared to last year. Nevertheless, over 20 Jaguar units have been acquired and almost as many Chryslers, 14 Dodges and a few Ferrari, Masserati, Rolls Royce, Bentley and Aston Martin.
Certainly, for “common people”, the option of a second hand economy or intermediate car remains the most popular option. Volkswagen, Opel and Ford are counted among the most popular second hand cars. As for new vehicles, the first option probably remains the national car, Dacia (both for those people who are looking to buy a personal means of conveyance and for those wishing to rent an efficient yet affordable car).
