Foreign seniors love Romania

We all know our country is beautiful, all traces of false modesty aside. Romania, the land between the Carpathians, the Black Sea and the Danube is a fairytale land, both for the locals who can see its beauty beyond the small disappointments, and for the visitors from abroad. Foreign seniors love Romania, for instance!

According to Mediafax, Alexandru Marginean, manager of Karpaten Turism has informed them, following his recent presence at the FITUR tourism fair in Spain, that around 80% of the foreigners choosing to visit Romania are elder people, retired persons over the he of 65. They generally join groups for cultural tours and are mainly interested in Transylvania and in cruises on the Danube.

Naturally, the young foreigners attracted by the idea of vacationing at the seaside for relatively low prices and especially by the gothic legend of Bran Castle also alight in Romania. But their number is low.

As for the nationality of the travelers to Romania, as was to be expected, they are mainly Germans, Dutch, Swiss, Austrians and Polish. These nations are among the most active in Europe and on the world in terms of traveling. If the idea of retirement for us, far from bringing about images of great travels and shiny experiences, gives us shivers down our spines as we reflect on the minuscule pensions and health issues, the situation is different for foreigners, where retirement is apparently something to dream of.

Western Europe’s seniors spend their days relaxing, endeavoring in activities they love and traveling the wide world. One might want to learn from them! Maybe by the time the Romanian “gadget generation” (young people today) reaches such respectable ages, we will have avid travelers among the grandparents!

Until then, both retired people and the young are invited to enjoy Romanian holidays and rent a car from us!
