A visit to the… cinema, for those who have seen movies like “A night at the museum”, may have stemmed the imagination of the little ones, as well as that of grown-ups. In our previous post, we talked about the Archeology Museum Grigore Antipa. We can certainly imagine the mammoths and dinosaurs exhibited there come to life.
But today we suggest another trip through The most beautiful museums in Romania – Part 2.
Just like last time, our first step in our travels today is the capital city. Actually, you can make two minor halts here if you are interested in ethnography, as well as in the history of the immortal village. The Romanian Peasant Museum in Bucharest brings to life the Romanian village with a collection of over 90.000 traditional objects.
The Village Museum Dimitrie Gusti in Bucharest is similar as thematic, but different as scope. Set at the heart of the Herastrau Park, in an oasis of green and beauty which is something very rare by Bucharest standards, the museum is made up of 70 households which reenact the traditions and customs valid in the rural area in various parts of Romania. The houses are furnished and decorated with beautiful utensils, carpets and traditional costumes.
How about a trip in the mountains? Maybe the most accessible destination is Prahova Valley, with its beautiful city, Sinaia. Here is where you can visit the Museum-Castle Peles. Built at the end of the 19th century by King Charles I of Romania with the purpose of being used as a summer residence, Peles was officially declared a museum in 1953. With its baroque architecture, stone and bronze statues, stained glasses, fountains and ornaments, but also with its majestic interior, decorated with unique artifacts, paintings and weapons, Peles can be counted among the most beautiful castles in Europe and the world.
To travel to Prahova Valley, you can rent a car in Ploiesti, the county residence, a friendly and welcoming city, where you can benefit, among others, from the best car rental services for accessible prices.
